| Archived News: End Polio Now - Fundraising Event 2/23/2010 - Zebra Restaurant |
Rotary District 7680 is celebrating Rotary International’s 105th anniversary by partnering with local restaurants to raise money for The Rotary Foundation’s “End Polio Now” campaign. The Charlotte South Rotary Club is partnering with Zebra Restaurant on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 to raise funds for "End Polio Now."
Although tremendous progress has been made, the world is not yet polio free. The greatest obstacle in the battle against this disease is financial. To help Rotary achieve this goal, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded the world’s oldest and largest service organization a $355 million challenge grant. Local clubs must raise $200 million worldwide by June 30, 2012. As of December 31, 2009, $105 million had been raised.
Jim Alexander from Zebra will donate $4.00 of each Prix Fixe Menu dinner purchased that day at Zebra Restaurant will go directly to the Rotary Foundation to help meet the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Challenge.
Polio can cause paralysis and even death. Because there is no cure for polio, the best protection is prevention. As long as polio threatens even one child in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high.
Please join us at Zebra Restaurant on February 23, to support this global and timely cause. The Prix Fixe Menu is attached for your convenience.
