Charlotte-South Rotary is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and participates in many fundraisers and service projects each year. Rotary International is an international charity organization composed of more than one million members. Rotary is the worlds oldest Service organization, and was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris. The goals of Rotary are service and fellowship between individuals, and the Rotary motto is "Service above Self". That motto dictates the purpose of Rotary International. Rotary is organized through many different clubs, which operate out of regions all over the world to help feed the hungry, work to prevent and eradicate disease across the globe, assist the elderly, and educate youth. Rotary International also provides immediate as well as long term aid to disaster victims. For information on the formation of the Charlotte-South rotary club, please see our history
